Cardigan/Sweater with Hood Finally Done!!!

Well I finally finished the Lorna's Lace Shepherd Worsted Cardigan/Sweater with Hood. I am somewhat please, but not entirely. Overall the sweater came out 'okay' for being my VERY FIRST attempt at a sweater. This one had buttonholes, pockets and a hood to boot!!! My pockets have alot to be desired. . . they are not evenly placed!!! When unbuttoned my pockets look fine, buttoned you can tell its unevenly placed. . .

I used Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted Weight yarn, US #7 needles, Jay Pond Colorway Mill End, 225 yards. Out of the six hanks of yarn I purchased, I used four for this project. Not bad. . .

I used white button with a little flower design. The buttons cost about 50 cents at a local store.

Two Tone (Actually Multi-Colored) Cardigan Progresss

I am in the process of attaching both left and right fronts to the back of the cardy. After this I will pick up stitches to begin knitting the hood portion. The sleeves have already been knit and are ready for attachment when the pattern calls for it. I have yet to knit the pockets and then attach those as well. This has been a learning experience for me. As stated in earlier posts, this is my very FIRST sweater attempt and I almost started to regret it. Had it not been for Carole Wulster of The Knitting Software Company, I would have given up. She helped me with the buttonhole spacing and the neck shaping all via email. Her instructions were right on the money!!! Great lady and great software, albeit that I have yet to learn how to use the software more efficiently. . .

Lion Brand's Child's Two Tone Cardigan

You guessed it!!! I finally ventured into the sweater realm. . .my very first sweater. Remember I vaguely wrote about my commitment issues? Well, I decided to start with a child's sweater since that would be small and wouldn't commit me to too much time. My mom found this really super easy cardigan, yeah right!!! it has buttonholes that need to be spaced out evenly to wit, I have never placed buttons or made buttonholes on anything!! Well that is the part I have arrived at and luckily for me, I was able to contact Carole Wulster of The Knitting Software site. She has been extremely helpful in helping me or rather should I say, she figured out the calculations for the placement of the buttonholes on my sweater. I will shortly put that information to the task. Anyway she has this wonderful program called The Knitting Math Wizard which is supposed to help people like me with such issues. . .I have it on order!! The yarn I used for this project is Lorna's Laces Hand-Dyed Yarns, Shepherd Worsted 100% Superwash Wool. I got a great buy on this yarn as it was labeled "Mill End" or "Oddball" yarns, purchased from Jimmy Beans Wool (http://www.jimmybeanswool.com/). The colorway is Jay Pond, US#7, 14" long - Lantern Moon Needles, yes Lantern Moon. . .I think you understand. . .it would keep me from wandering away from my 'commitment'.

The top photo shows what will be the back of the cardigan and the photo below is what will be the sleeves. I knitted the sleeves simultaneously on the needles so that both would have the same length and boo boos if any the same!

Debbie Bliss Cashmarino Yarn - Crocheted Baby Blanket in Blue Cashmarino (although in the photo it looks quite white), Knitted Baby Sweater (or Cardigan) in Cashmarino White with Blue trimming and Knitted Baby Hat in White with Blue Border.
These items were knitted by my mom. She does pretty good work!!
